Volunteer emergency medical responders held a day-long earthquake preparedness drill, practising triage, search of damaged buildings and communications when mobile networks are down.
The region sits along the Jordan Rift Valley, and seismologists have long warned that a strong earthquake is a matter of when rather than if.
"A drill like this is mostly about communication," said Noa, one of the organisers. "Who calls whom, on what channel, when the phones stop working."
Participants also practised setting up casualty collection points in schools and community centres.
Organisers said they plan to publish a short checklist for households on preparing for an earthquake.
