Public service offices in Erbil have started trialling a digital queue system that lets residents book a slot by text message and wait at home until their turn is near.
The system sends a reminder when a resident is five places from the front, and shows expected waiting times on screens in each office.
"The waiting room used to be full by eight in the morning," said Aram, an office manager. "Now people arrive twenty minutes before their slot."
Walk-in tickets remain available for people without a mobile phone.
Officials say the trial will be reviewed based on average waiting times and resident feedback.
